Doctor Whooch

In which WE'RE BACK and we've FORGOTTEN HOW TO DO THIS.

Remember when we were weekly? Apparently we don't. In a particularly inebriated outing, Danica and Brandon (that's us!) are talking about this year's Christmas Special - which apparently was at one point intended to be Steven Moffat's swan song? What? Anyway. "The Husbands of River Song". Rompy as hell, and tons of fun. But probably not as much fun as we had talking about it while super hammered after an... interesting Christmas.

Also: The Mindy Project! Supergirl! More! And an announcement about our schedule in 2016! YES!

Outro music is "Locomotion" by Kylie Minogue. No reason.

In which we celebrate out 75th-ish episode the same way we always do: stumbling through our thoughts.

It's Series finalé time with Clara and The Doctor as Brandon and Danica discuss "Hell Bent" - the final episode of Series 9. What did we think of Clara's re-return and good-bye? Also, all that Gallifrey stuff? And Me? We have a feeling that if you listen, you'll find out. Call it a hunch. A SEXY HUNCH.

Also! With the series concluded, and the holidays approaching, we'll be taking some time off. (It is really hard getting hammered on a weekly basis when you only get one day off from work every 3 weeks or so.) You'll be able to catch our next episode before the year is over as we discuss this year's Christmas Special - and then we'll return in the new year with weekly (!) episodes and a new(ish) format.

Thank you so much for sticking around for 75 episodes. Hopefully we're around for many more!

In which our timing is perfect, and everyone needs to calm their shit, probably.

We start with narrating Cat Life, because of COURSE we do. Then it's straight into "Heaven Sent" - the 11th episode of Doctor Who's 9th Series, which we were too drunk to get emotional about. These things happen, right? But also: Capaldi, yeah? Yeah. Then it's onwards to very VERY light spoilers regarding Jessica Jones's fight against patriarchy wearing a David Tennant suit, and general stumbling about. Yay!

In which

So we all know what happens in this episode, right? Like, we're all on board? Because there's going to be some spoilers. Just... clllllll kinds of them. So.

This week, Brandon and Danica are talking about "Face The Raven" - the 10th episode of Doctor Who's 9th series. Maisie Williams is there! That's not really a spoiler. Well it is, but... hey, you know what? Let's not beat around the bush here. You know why you're downloading this. You want to hear drunk people talk about the thing that happened. Well, we do! So yay? Oh, and then we wax poetic about Jessica Jones, because you guys, Jessica Jones is amazing and heartbreaking. Yeah.

To sleep, perchance to dream of a better episode.

On this week's show, Danica and Brandon drunkenly talk about this week's... interesting episode of Doctor Who - Series 9, Episode 9, "Sleep No More". Basically, we kind of make fun of it, because... sleep monsters? Or maybe a legitimately viral video? Or something. We were pretty drunk.

And as an added bonus, Brandon forgot to edit the podcast on his day off, so uh... there's that. Wait, is that what we call a "bonus"? Hmm.

In which, uh... we really liked the new Doctor Who episode?

Hey everyone: fun fact. It's hard to be wacky drunks when an episode of Doctor Who is so good. Which means Danica and Brandon just watched Series 9, Episode 8 (The Zygon Inversion) and it was pretty amazing. That's not to say they aren't weird and stumbling, because they are. We are. Writing in the third person is hard, you guys. Also, they talk about some other shows probably. Scandal? I think? And something else. Remembering is also hard, when you WERE drunk, and ARE sober several days later.

Outro music is "War (What Is It Good For)" as performed by Cory and Topanga on Boy Meets World. Because of course it is.

In which we are brimming with allegories and metaphors, and totally know the difference between the two.

This week, Brandon and Danica are watching "The Zygon Invasion" (Series 9, Episode 7 of Doctor Who) and end up being drunkenly riveted by the whole episode. I mean really, you guys - this was a crackerjack episode. There was Osgood! Jokes! Doctor Funkenstein! Seriously, what more do you want? Some Once Upon a Time chatter? Maybe. Probably not, but we don't care. WE DON'T. (We do. We love you.)

In which we don't got nobody that we can depend on.

On this week's episode, Danica and Brandon stumble through the hodgepodge of Doctor Who's 6th episode of Series 9 - The Woman Who Lived. It's a bit of a shambles, honestly but there's also a fire breathing space lion king, so it's not as though there wasn't anything awesome to talk about. Oh, and also, there's discussion of Once Upon A Time and The Mindy Project, because of course there is.

In which the secret ingredient is vodka.

On this week's episode, Danica and Brandon are talking about the Series 9 episode "The Girl Who Died" (Episode 5) and the subject of jowls comes up. I guess. It was a long strange one. Also: lots of drinking! More talk about Once Upon A Time! And vikings! Not necessarily in that order.

In which we totally know where Guinness comes from, you guys.

This week, Danica and Brandon talk about Before the Flood (Doctor Who Series 9 - Episode 4) and eat pumpkin pie, because it was totally Thanksgiving. And we gave thanks to alcohol. Also in this episode: some Buffy life tips, some disillusion talk, and uh... we've started our yearly binge of Once Upon a Time, so there's that as well.

Fun!

In which Brandon and Danica are running on two (?) hours of sleep and then get drunk. Because... yeah. Yes.

Series 9 keeps rolling on, and we're keeping up... mostly. It was a weekend of store events (including a 24 hour event) but there's always time to get crunk and watch The Doctor pal around on a base. Nothing EVER goes wrong on bases, you guys. NOTHING.

Marvel as they don't actually pass out. Tremble as we... as we actually really, really like Series 9. Because SERIES 9, you guys. So good.

In which NOTHING will stop us from recording Doctor Whooch. Not even adorable little assholes.

On this week's episode, Brandon and Danica tackle the second part of the Series 9 opening - The Witch's Familiar. There are Daleks! And fighting! And metaphors that we totally understood, maybe. Also slurring. But there's always slurring. Being drunk will do that to you, it seems. That's a thing we've learned, you see.

In which we love all of our little muskox listeners.

Series 9 is here, and has somehow wrecked our alcohol tolerance, so we’re preeeeeeetty drunk. So drunk that we might have ended up offending German people definitely, Christian people probably, and potentially everybody else. So… par for the course? Anyway, if you’ve been waiting (WAITING) to hear us slur our opinions about The Magician’s Apprentice, then you’ve come to the right place. Oh, and at the end, we talk about racial issues and sexism on our drunk podcast and that’s definitely a thing.

In which we swear a bunch and nobody has any problems with anyone or anything on the show. Yup.

On this week's show, we're talking about the series 8 episode "Into the Dalek" and Brandon does a MadLibs by himself, and it's horrible. HORRIBLE. We also learn about space, maybe, and things get mega adoraballs. Oh, and we get really mad at Moffat and then try to rap with him with some real talk, which almost definitely works.

We'll see you next week for SERIES 9 WHAT.

In which we revisit the day we got engaged, with cursing.

First: EXCITING NEWS! Doctor Whooch will be weekly through the end of Series 9, and that's going to be a thing.

Now: as we count down to the premiere of Series 9, we're revisiting the first episode of Series 8: Deep Breath. And guess what. We have Moffat opinions. Also, we search for The Master slash fic (but generally forget to finish that quest), find out that we're not good with boats, and Danica swears at the cats and generally can't say words or names.

And hey, tune in next week for what's essentially the second part of this episode - and then it's straight on to NEW WHO. YESSSSSS.

In which The Doctor and Rose end up on a space station, and absolutely nothing goes wrong.

On this week's episode, Brandon and Danica head back to their roots, and fix a part of Brandon that's broken. Mainly, the fact that he seemingly skipped an entire disc of David Tennant's run on Doctor Who. To that end, they watch episodes 8 and 9 of Series 2: "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit" and now Brandon is almost whole again. All he needs to do is see "Love and Monsters" which he has been warned will be a thing. So there's that.

Also? Some Bojack Horseman talk, because that show is stunningly good, and gives us all the feels. ALL OF THEM. Enjoy!

They're not what you think.

On this week's show, things are happening. TERRIBLE THINGS! Or I guess more accurately, drunk things. First, Danica and Brandon watch "The Idiot's Lantern" (Series 2, Episode 7) where the Doctor and Rose fight an HBO show, I guess? Then it's straight onto "The Doctor's Daughter" (Series 4, Episode 6) where we contemplate the meta story and almost break our pickled brains.

Sex stuff will happen.

In which we get drunk and are surprised when Torchwood makes us sad and angry again.

On this week's show Danica and Brandon watch the final episode of Torchwood Series 2 (Exit Wounds) and the 3rd episode of Series 2 of Doctor Who (School Reunion) and end up talking about female agency and empowerment and how both Moffat and Davies both haven't been the best at that. They also share a story about the first time Brandon watched School Reunion, and how he knew Danica was the one. Yup, there's a pretty big swing in this episode. Because we're ballers, you guys.

This week, Danica and Brandon are drinking Captain Jacks in honour of Captain Jack, and watching some Martha Jones episodes - 42 and Utopia. What happens next, will surprise you.

In this week's episode, we watched "Army of Ghosts" and "Doomsday", which included not-Martha Jones and a good-bye to Rose Tyler. It was awesome, and we got all of the feels pretty hard. We also slur through what we think the difference between Moffet twists and Davis twists are, so that's a thing too. Also, cats? Maybe! Mad Max? Also probably! This week, we dig into more Torchwood, starting with "Something Borrowed" and barrelling right into "From Out Of The Rain". They eventually get around to talking about them, but slur wildly off into comics talk and how to socialize without books. Oh, and they also watch the two Craig episodes - The Lodger (Series 5, Episode 11) and Closing Time (Series 6, Episode 12).

It's a two-part celebration of almost two years worth of drinking. Clearly we've been doing something right. Schmidt and James Leask on the show to talk about the 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day of the Doctor".
