Doctor Whooch

In which parents are terrible.

On this week's show, The Sarah Jane Adventures continue with the Series 1 two parter, Eye of the Gorgon. Brandon and Danica talk about evil space nuns (?) and how Maria's mom is the worst. Or probably second worst. They also mention they should have Paul as a guest on the show. And they did! Two weeks ago! Time travel is fun.

Danica and Brandon and Paul watch "Vincent and the Doctor" from Matt Smith's first season, and WOW is there a lot of feelings in there. Depression sucks, folks! And reach out if you need to.

In which we learn that Danica takes nicknames very seriously.

We're in the midst of the dry season (also known as "all of 2019, probably) with no new Doctor Who television content in sight, so we're continuing to explore the vast riches of other media... this time, with Big Finish audio! On this week's episode, we listen to an Eighth Doctor adventure, Blood of the Daleks, that has some similarities to a pair of episodes from the Russel "The" Davies run.

As always, if you haven't listened to the audio itself, don't worry! You'll get all the info you need, except drunk. It's fine. Trust us.

Through the fog of a lot of damn alcohol, they manage to crystallize some opinions about how Chibnall runs the show, in contrast to Russell "The" Davies and Steven "Garbage Panda" Moffat. Welcome to 2019, jerks! Danica and Brandon are kicking the year off with their take on "Resolution", the best Doctor Who episode of 2019. Brandon and Danica return to podcasting with a new companion, a gentle shot, and a zest for life(or whatever optimists say - we aren’t, so we’re just spitballing right now).

They manage to stay on topic until Brandon comes up with a fantastic theory about the similarities between companions. You’ll have to listen to the episode, I’m not going to ruin it here for you. Who do you think I am? @SavedYouAClick? SIR OR MADAM, I AM OFFENDED.

Anyway, listen while the two fall in love with Bill, are still offended by Moffat-isms, and maybe just maybe are thinking positively about Series 10.

In which we are human monsters.

Check it nerds: it's our season finalé. We have seasons now. DEAL WITH IT DOT GIF.

On this week's show: it's THE RETURN OF DOCTOR MYSTERIO or us, as we see it, a show for FRIGGEN NERDS. Like us. We're the nerds. So yeah. We discuss this year's Doctor Who Christmas special in which folks unzip their heads and also there is a lot of Superman references that Steven Moffat googled a bit. Over the course of the show, we tear into silver age comics and introduce to you the French Doctor and it is not offensive. So don't worry about it.

We said don't worry about it.

In which we (finally) get to the thrilling conclusion of CLASS! And uh, it's a thing.

So! With the Doctor Who Christmas Special just around the corner, we're going face deep into "The Lost", which wraps up this whole weird experiment. As we do so, we go swiftly off the rails, just like the show did, and talk about chaperones going downtown, what constitutes a good bonkers, and how Ram is pretty useless, among other things.

Stay tuned over the holiday season for our take on the Christmas Special! We'll see you in 2017.

In which everything you hear is adatomically correct.

On this episode, Danica and Brandon are nearing the end of Class with episode seven - "The Metaphysical Engine or What Quill Did", and the whole thing is about deep smooching as three grown ass adults bang around in a tub. Also, someone murders a satan, and the ending is super weird. But uh... that's Class.

On this week's show, Brandon and Danica take another spin at trying to explain what's been happening on Class as they recap "Brave-Ish Heart" - the fifth episode in the first series. The results of which are very mixed, but hey, at least you get another one of Brandon's surreal episode descriptions of bonkers plot points! Also on this episode: we still love Brooklyn 99, y'all! It's amazing.

In which Class goes sideways in a really weird way, but hey, we're drunk, so whatever.

On this week's show, we reach the midpoint of CLASS with episode four, "Co-Owner of a Lonely Heart" and things get really weird. Are you ready for crazy teen/shadow monster sex scene parallels? What about bouts of murder rage and existential crisis about a weapon filled with souls? If only our biggest problems were "my heart is connected to a shadow monster" and not "the real world is filled with garbage". Is that where we're at? WHO KNOWS!

Danica and Brandon return this week to talk about the first two episodes of CLASS - the latest Doctor Who spin-off show that they can't quite remember the episode titles for! (Psst: they're "For Tonight We Might Die" and "The Coach with the Dragon Tattoo"). Along the way, they stumble through plot points such as SPACE DRAGONS and ROBOT MAKE-OUTS and then meander into other pop culture stuff happening like TIMELESS. Have you been watching that? No lies, this one is weird. But if you ever wondered how much of the show comes about because we're drunk, and how much of the show is just us, well... you're going to get your answer.

The alcohol flows freely on this week's celebratory 100th episode, in with Danica and Brandon welcome special guest Chris Sikkenga (of Montreal Sauce and Film Frown) to the show! Chris (the scamp) chose the final episode of Series 1 to watch - The Parting of Ways - and the gang gets well and truly sauced and forgets to talk about the plot for much of the hour. Get ready for some McConaughey and try some of Jackie Tyler's Space Jerky as we all talk about Daleks being stage divas, sex in the undernet, and Trevor. Also: Danica throws hands at T-Swift. On this week's episode, Brandon and Danica tackle the second part of the Series 9 opening - The Witch's Familiar. There are Daleks! And fighting! And metaphors that we totally understood, maybe. Also slurring. But there's always slurring. Being drunk will do that to you, it seems. That's a thing we've learned, you see.

Series 9 is here, and has somehow wrecked our alcohol tolerance, so we’re preeeeeeetty drunk. So drunk that we might have ended up offending German people definitely, Christian people probably, and potentially everybody else. So… par for the course? Anyway, if you’ve been waiting (WAITING) to hear us slur our opinions about The Magician’s Apprentice, then you’ve come to the right place. Oh, and at the end, we talk about racial issues and sexism on our drunk podcast and that’s definitely a thing.

We also learn about space, maybe, and things get mega adoraballs. Oh, and we get really mad at Moffat and then try to rap with him with some real talk, which almost definitely works.

In which we revisit the day we got engaged, with cursing.

First: EXCITING NEWS! Doctor Whooch will be weekly through the end of Series 9, and that's going to be a thing.

Now: as we count down to the premiere of Series 9, we're revisiting the first episode of Series 8: Deep Breath. And guess what. We have Moffat opinions. Also, we search for The Master slash fic (but generally forget to finish that quest), find out that we're not good with boats, and Danica swears at the cats and generally can't say words or names.

And hey, tune in next week for what's essentially the second part of this episode - and then it's straight on to NEW WHO. YESSSSSS.

In which The Doctor and Rose end up on a space station, and absolutely nothing goes wrong.

On this week's episode, Brandon and Danica head back to their roots, and fix a part of Brandon that's broken. Mainly, the fact that he seemingly skipped an entire disc of David Tennant's run on Doctor Who. To that end, they watch episodes 8 and 9 of Series 2: "The Impossible Planet" and "The Satan Pit" and now Brandon is almost whole again. All he needs to do is see "Love and Monsters" which he has been warned will be a thing. So there's that.

Also? Some Bojack Horseman talk, because that show is stunningly good, and gives us all the feels. ALL OF THEM. Enjoy!

Then it's straight onto "The Doctor's Daughter" (Series 4, Episode 6) where we contemplate the meta story and almost break our pickled brains.

They also share a story about the first time Brandon watched School Reunion, and how he knew Danica was the one. Yup, there's a pretty big swing in this episode. Because we're ballers, you guys.

During this week's episode, your intrepid hosts delve deeper into Torchwood with the Series One episodes "Small Worlds" and "Greeks Bearing Gifts", skipping "Countryside" for Brandon to experience another day. Also, Danica punches Brandon a few times, and things start happening that probably involve neighbours, and not ghosts. Probably. Hopefully.

In which Brandon and Danica are both kinda' sick. So. There's that.

In this week's episode, your awesome hosts are feeling not-so-awesome, but a love of Doctor Who conquers all! With hooch in hand, we explored "Pyramids of Mars" - a fourth Doctor serial that was... whelp, interesting. Weird stuff happened, and the Doctor was a bit of a jerk, but hey, there were explosions and running! Which was nice.

In which we discover just what a sexy Cyberwoman looks like, and the feels get all weird on us.

This week's episode (our first that can legally drink in the US!) our special guest James Leask (of Comics! The Blog fame) joins us for another two episodes of Torchwood ("Ghost Machine" and "Cyberwoman"). Things start weird and get weirder pretty quick. This is what happens when you have a drunk podcast, I guess.

In which we rediscover the sensation of tequila and things progress from there.

In this week's episode, we continue to explore Classic Who with the third Doctor's debut serial, "Spearhead from Space". Also, crunk things happen as we invent a new drink* and dovetail into talk about the new Veronica Mars movie in a section we like to call "Veronica Bars".

In which Brandon and Danica talk about their sexy crush on a certain spaceman. No, not that spaceman.

This week, we're watching Torchwood (specifically the first two episodes of Series One, "Everything Changes" and "Day One"), which unsurprisingly goes really well with being drunk. In short order, Brandon serenades the audience, and Danica lets him. Then things got weird.

Danica and Brandon explore "The Tomb of the Cybermen" in this week's episode, with Germans, Americans, Scotts and more! Also, James Wolk comes up again, because have you seen his smile? Damn girl.

In which Brandon and Danica don't remember some things until they do.

In this episode, we finally dig into some old Who, starting with the classic William Hartnell serial "The Aztecs". They also talk about that one time Steve Buscemi was in Doctor Who. Or, okay, Brandon does. He was pretty drunk, you guys.

This very special episode features some of our favourite moments from the first 13 episodes of the show - including next year's smash hit, Galifrey High!

This very special episode features Jessica, Emma, and Katie from the afroementioned Boozy Boob Tube (which you should be watching!) and a heaping helping of conversation about this year's amazing Doctor Who Christmas Special. Also, everyone is good and toasty and someone's relative is wrong about pretty much everything. Just so you know.

In which there is also shenanigans and chicanery.

On this week's show, Brandon and Danica talk about things happening NOW! For the first time ever! They talk about "The Day of the Doctor" (which they saw live in theatre with a bunch of their friends), "The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot", and "An Adventure In Space And Time" - which we all delightful in their own way. They also get super tired, because they did all of that in one day, and rode a horse-and-cart. It was awesome.

In which Brandon and Danica can't remember your names. We're looking at you, Sarah Jessica Miller.

On this week's show, Danica fixes another broken part of Brandon, as he finally finishes his exploration of the Eccleston series with "Bad Wolf" (Series 1, Episode 12) and "The Parting of The Ways" (Series 1, Episode 13) and finds it to be quite fantastic. Then, they talk about "Age of Steel" (Series 2, Episode 6... or 7 if you count the Christmas Special) and they don't get distracted by James Wolk at all. At. ALL.

In which Brandon needs to learn how to talk.

On this week's show, Danica and Brandon celebrate the Twelfth Doctor (sort of) by watching "The Fires of Pompeii" (Series 4, Episode 2), but not Peter Capaldi's episodes of Torchwood, because Brandon is horrible and hasn't watched them yet. On a similar note, Brandon continues his first watch through of Series One with "Boomtown" (Series 1, Episode 11). That's a pun, you see. They also talked about their various travels through space, but not time.

And remember: if you're in Edmonton on the weekend of November 16th and 17th, make sure you stop by Pure Spec, Edmonton's best science and fiction festival! We will be hosting the show's big Doctor Who 50th Anniversary from 2:45pm to 4:15pm on Sunday, November 17th, talking to fellow Whovians about the series both now and then, and offer their thoughts on the inevitably timey-whimey future. We're currently lining up guests for this extravaganza, which will be recorded as a decidedly irregular episode of the podcast, seeing how it will be live and fairly sober. So please, join us live and experience one of the best literary festivals Edmonton has to offer!

In which we celebrate the Eleventh Doctor by revealing which beverage is totally punk rock.

This week on the podcast, Danica and Brandon reveal their TV crushes, which episode was playing the night they met, and why they love Neil Gaiman. In terms of Who, they watched "The Wedding of River Song" (Series 6, Episode 13) and "Nightmare in Silver" (Series 7, Episode 13). Also, Lee Pace? Call us. We want to talk to you about Gallifrey High.

In which we celebrate all things Tennant in our Tennanth episode!

This week, Brandon and Danica are coming at you from the palatial Ramada Hotel in Westlock, Alberta, where there is an abundance of quiet and cows, but no shots. Still, they get drunk and talk Tennant (and Catherine Tate) as they watch "The Runaway Bride" (Series 3 Christmas Special) and "Turn Left" (Series 4, Episode 12). They also talk about how money is weird, and how Brandon has strange word gaps.

This week's outro is "Pocket Full of Sunshine" by Natasha Bedingfield.

In which we get a little off topic and get saucy with the rules of the internet.

On this week's show, we celebrate the ninth Doctor (a bit) and watch "Father's Day" (Series 1, Episode 8) and "The Sontaran Stratagem" (Series 4, Episode 4). Only one of those have Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, but hey, whatever. In between fits of sexy talk, we continue to talk about how much we love Donna, this time including a heaping scoop of fondness for Martha Jones and their delicious banter with each other. Also there are time pterodactyls.

In which we get distracted by the human figure. Ladies.

This week, Brandon and Danica don't watch any episodes of Doctor Who, as they celebrate the announcement of Peter Capaldi as the next Doctor! Swoon as they attempt to talk about "The Thick of It" and "In The Loop", but get distracted by various Chris'! Marvel at Brandon trying to explain his disdain for politicians roughly five drinks in! And discover within yourself your very own Beefcake Need.

(We love you, Peter Capaldi.)

In which Brandon really, really loves Raspberry Sour Puss.

On this week's podcast, Brandon and Danica drink some Sonic Screwdrivers (the Eleventh edition!) and decide to pitch a show to the BBC about homosexual males and train cars (but they are far more British about it. Because they are drunk.)  In the meantime (and in-between time) they talk about "The Long Game" (Series 1, Episode 7) and "Journey's End" (Series 4, Episode 13). They wax poetic about Donna, and then get sad.

In which Danica becomes a genealogy expert through dubious means.

It's episode six! This time around, Danica and Brandon are both really drunk (yay!) and accidently create a new superhero and supervillain. Oh, and they also cast The Doctor in the upcoming CW teen drama, Gallifrey High, and maybe talk about a couple of episodes of Doctor Who, "Flesh and Stone" (Series 5, Episode 5) and "The Christmas Invasion" (Series 2, Episode 0).

Also, they miss Donna.

In which Brandon is far more drunk than Danica, and it shows.

In this fifth installment, Brandon and Danica teach the world about relationships, Brandon is not allowed to talk to kids about jam, and someone's getting pregnant? Also, we discuss the second Craig episode, "Closing Time" (Series 6, Episode 12) as well as the Moffat penned "The Girl in the Fireplace" (Series 2, Episode 5), and determine that Craig is the best. We want more Craig.

In which we get off track and accidentally create a brand new show for the CW's 2014 Fall Line Up.

Danica and Brandon return in this episode and create a brand new sexy genre show and talk about how best to kill robots if you are in the Washington State area. As for what WHO was watched, they finally took the plunge and watched a run from the old series for the very first time. Marvel as Brandon and Danica go three (plus) drinks deep and attempt to describe the awesomeness of Tom Baker as The Doctor, and the dubiousness of "savage alien warrior" Leela, who is Not Very Good at knife things, in "The Robots of Death"!

In which we fill your metaphorical inboxes with all the drunk Who talk you can handle.

In this third installment, Danica has another very important message for the kids, some sex stuff happens with David Tennant, and Brandon picks a fight with Hugh Laurie probably. Also, we stick to the format and discuss "World War Three" (Series 1, Episode 5) and "The Shakespeare Code" (Series 4, Episode 2) before rolling into some Buffy talk, which may or may not get sad because: "The Body". Yeah, you're getting a wide range of drunks this week. Enjoy!

Anyway, in this episode, we talk about "The Unquiet Dead" (Series 1, Episode 3) and "Aliens of London" (Series 1, Episode 4). Also, Brandon makes things awkward by talking about when NOT to bring condoms, and Danica gets all the best lines (because she's awesome).

It's the first episode of Doctor Whooch, with your hosts Brandon Schatz and Danica LeBlanc!

CONTENT WARNING: Brandon says a dumb thing. It is not okay. We've grown up and regret so much.

In this first episode, Brandon talks about watching the first two episodes of Series One for the first time. Also Danica nearly dies and Brandon takes a joke to a pretty terrible place. Because that's what he does.

Episodes watched: Rose (Series 1, Episode 1), The End of the World (Series 1, Episode 2).
